Illustrated atlas · North-west Argentina Yungas tucumanas
This atlas exists so more people get to know the Yungas: the cloud forest that holds the water, soil and life of Tucumán. It brings together its species, altitude floors and geology in one place, so you can learn to recognise it, value it and look after it. And it is an invitation to experience it: walk its trails, listen to its birds and discover the ecotourism the province has to offer.
Where they areA green band on the mountainsideThe Yungas cover the eastern slopes of the ranges, where clouds from the east pile up. They do not stop at the Tucumán border: they run north through Salta and Jujuy into Bolivia, and south into Catamarca. YungasTucumánNeighbouring provinces Yungas area by province (approx.) In all that time the province has never stopped surprising me: its mountains, its cloud forest, its birds. I made this atlas because I think a lot of people, locals and visitors alike, still don’t know how extraordinary its nature is. I’m a graphic and motion designer, which is why the site is so visual: every plate, map and animation is made so the forest can be understood at a glance. If exploring it makes you want to go and walk the Yungas, it has done its job.
